The New Orleans Saints family lost an all-time fan favorite on Monday night, when former player, scout, and radio color analyst Hokie Gajan died at the age of 56.

Gajan was diagnosed with Liposarcoma, a form of cancer, last fall.

A native of Baker, Louisiana, Gajan played for Baker High School, before attending LSU, where he rushed for 1,563 yards and 6 touchdowns from 1977-1980.

A 10th-round selection of the Saints in the 1981 NFL Draft, Gajan rushed for 1,358 yards and 11 touchdowns in his 4-year NFL career, to go along with 515 receiving yards and two touchdowns, from 1982-1985.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Gajan had his best season in 1984, rushing for 615 yards and 5 touchdowns, along with a league-high 6.0 yards-per-carry.

Gajan's short, but successful, NFL career was cut short by injuries.

Following his playing days, Gajan became a scout for the Saints, before joining the team's radio broadcast crew as a color analyst in 2000.

Gajan is survived by a wife and 4 daughters.
