A former New Orleans Saints assistant coach is looking for a new job.

John Morton was fired by the New York Jets on Wednesday, after serving only one season as offensive coordinator.

A native of Auburn Hills, Michigan, Morton served two seasons as the Saints wide receiver coach, from 2015-16, before the Jets named him as their offensive coordinator on January 31 of last year.

The 48-year old Morton was replaced by Curtis Johnson on the Saints' coaching staff.

In 2017, the Jets finished 28th in total offense, averaging 305.2 yards-per-game, and 24th in scoring, averaging 18.6 points-per-game, while also finishing 29th in first downs, 23rd in third-down efficiency, 24th in passing yards, and 19th in rushing yards.

The Jets missed the postseason for a seventh consecutive season.

Morton, who also served on the staffs of the San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers, spent time with the Saints as an offensive assistant in 2006.
