Former Saint Sedrick Ellis Retires

When he signed with the Chicago Bears back in June, former Saints defensive tackle Sedric Ellis said he could "almost guarantee" his numbers would be up from a year ago.

Um....scratch that

Ellis announced Thursday he would retire rather than report to Bears Training Camp.

The 28 year old Ellis was the seventh overall pick by the Saints in the 2008 NFL draft and got guaranteed money to the tune of $19.5 million.  But he never lived up to the expectations.
