LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Former mixed martial arts fighter and current business owner Timothy Credeur II has been arrested in connection with a traffic stop that happened in April.

According to Cpl. Kyle Soriez with the Lafayette Police Department, Credeur was pulled over on April 15 for a seat belt violation.

During the traffic stop, police found suspected marijuana and a firearm inside the vehicle, Soriez said. Credeur was ticketed for the seat belt violation and allowed to leave, Soriez said.

Soriez said warrants for Credeur's arrest on the drug and weapons charges were issued at a later date.

Deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Credeur Monday, Soriez said.

Credeur was a successful MMA fighter, most recently on Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter 7. He currently owns the Gladiators Academy in Lafayette.
