The New Orleans Saints are looking for help on defense and Chad Jones is looking for a second chance to play pro football.

Jones was a two sport standout at LSU. He attended Northside High, in Lafayette, and later St. Augustine High School in New Orleans before relocating to Southern Laboratory High School in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina. Jones was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2007. He chose to attend LSU instead of pursuing a career in pro baseball.

Jones started at cornerback for LSU as a true freshman in 2007. He played on National Championship teams in both football and baseball. The New York Giants selected Jones in the third round of the 2010 draft.

He was severely injured in a car accident in New Orleans in 2010  Both his tibia and fibula in Jones' left leg were shattered, and his arteries and nerves were left exposed. The Giants waived Jones after he failed a physical last May.

Jones will reportedly workout on Wednesday.
