Former LSU & Saints Offensive Linemen To Be Honored By SEC

The Southeastern Conference on Tuesday announced its 2016 SEC Football Legends class, a collection of former football standouts who will be honored at events surrounding the SEC Football Championship Game in Atlanta in December.

The 2016 Football Legends Class is made up of 14 former players, one from each SEC school, and includes a Heisman Trophy winner, and nine All-Americans.

This year's class includes from LSU offensive lineman Robert Dugas, and former Georgia offensive lineman Jon Stinchcomb, also a former player for the New Orleans Saints.

Dugas, an offensive tackle for LSU from 1976-1978, earned first team All-America honors in 1978, and was also named the Jacobs Award winner that year, given to the top blocker in the SEC. A two-time All-SEC and Academic All-SEC selection in 1977 and 1978, Dugas was named a first-team Academic All-America selection in 1977.

Stinchcomb, an offensive tackle for Georgia from 1999-2002, was a first team All-American in 2002, before being selected by the Saints in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

With the Saints, Stinchcomb started in 86 consecutive games over five seasons, was named the Saints Man of the Year in 2008, went to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and was part of the Super Bowl XLIV team.

Other members of the class include Chris Samuels (Alabama), Shane Andrews (Arkansas), Jason Campbell (Auburn), Steve Spurrier (Florida), James Whalen (Kentucky), Kris Mangum (Ole Miss), Randy Thomas (Mississippi St.), Justin Smith (Missouri), Travelle Wharton (South Carolina), Deon Grant (Tennessee), Ray Mickens (Texas A&M), and Chris Williams (Vanderbilt).

The class will be honored at the 2016 SEC Football "Weekend of Champions" Dec. 2-3 in Atlanta, Ga.
