courtesy ncaa.com

The Southeastern Conference has won the last two national championships in college baseball.

And, they’re off to a good start in the College World Series again this year.

In the first games played at the new TD Ameritrade Park, Vanderbilt broke a tie on Connor Harrell’s home run, the first to be hit at the new ballpark as Vanderbilt defeated North Carolina 7-3.

It was Vandy’s first ever game at the College World Series.

In the nightcap, Florida spotted Texas three unearned runs before coming back to beat the Longhorns, 8-4.  The ‘Horns Taylor Jungmann lost his third straight postseason game and didn’t get out of the fifth inning.  He fell to 13-3 after going unbeaten in the regular season.

Vandy and Florida will meet in a winner’s bracket game Monday night at 6pm.  North Carolina and Texas play an elimination game at 1.

Sunday, #1 national seed Virginia will take on California in a first round game.  Defending champion South Carolina will face Texas A&M in the nightcap at 6.
