The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (1-3) and the Texas State Bobcats (1-3) both open conference play Saturday night at Cajun Field.  Kickoff is slated for just after 6pm and will be televised on ESPN3.  The game will also be available statewide on the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns radio network.  Local pregame will begin at 4pm  Network pregame begins at 5:00.

It's a chance for the Cajuns to get off to a good start in conference play and regain some confidence after two consecutive losses.  If it's going to happen, watch for this.

ADJUST--Texas State has changed defensive coordinators after giving up nearly 50 points per game over the first four.  They had last week off to install their new packages. The Cajuns are bound to see things they haven't seen on video in preparation for the game.  That will make in game adjustments that much more imperative, especially with three Cajuns playing different positions upfront after the loss of Mykhael Quave.

HELP YOUR QUARTERBACK--It's time for the Cajuns' receivers to step it up.  Once again last week there were too many dropped passes and a fumble lost after reception. There haven't been nearly enough big plays from the wideouts.  This is as big a reason as any as to why the Cajuns' offense has struggled to move the football.  Catch the ball.  Get yards after the catch.  Do not fumble.

MAKE JONES ONE DIMENSIONAL - For the third straight week, the Cajuns are playing against a quarterback who can hurt you with his legs as well as his arm.  Tyler Jones is good at both.  He leads the team in rushing.  Make him throw the football  And you do that by taking care of business on first and second down.

GET SOME DAMNED TURNOVERS - Last year at this time the Cajuns were 1-3, mainly because they were -9 in turnover margin.  Right now they are -8.  Not only do the Cajuns need to get rid of the minus, they need to get into the plus column.  That's on the Cajuns' defense.  Part of an offense's success is getting good field position.  Time for the defense to do their part in that regard.

23 OR MORE -  That's the number I'm selecting for the number of touches Elijah McGuire needs for the Cajuns to have offensive success.  I love the fact they used him a little more to catch the football in space last week.  But he didn't touch it enough.  If the rest of the offense does its job in moving the chains, 23 will be just about right.

See you at Cajun Field Saturday night.
