If it's midweek football, it must mean Arkansas State and Louisiana are getting ready to play again. This has been a series dominated by the home team, although the Cajuns did win the last time they were in Jonesboro.  That game was a very low scoring game, which has not been the norm in this series.  Can the Cajuns make it two in a row in Jonesboro.  Sure.  But they had better do a lot of things right.  Like...

1.  SUSTAIN DRIVES:  The 23-7 Cajuns' victory two years ago was accomplished in part, due to the fact the Cajuns controlled the football for 43 minutes.  While big plays and quick strikes are great, it would be even better if the Cajuns could have some double-digit play drives to keep the Red Wolves potentially explosive offense on the bench.

2.  THROW IT TO THE RIGHT COLORED JERSEY:  The Arkansas State defense has picked off 13 passes this year in their first six games.  It's up to Jalen Nixon to recognize coverages and make the right decisions on his reads.  There may not be a lot of room for errors here.  But if Nixon can do that, the Cajuns will have plenty of success.

3.  DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE ELI AS A DECOY--After his coming out party a year ago against the Red Wolves, you wanna bet A State will be keying on the Cajuns' star running back?  I think the Cajuns can have some success by using a little deception.  Don't get me wrong, the Prophet needs to get his touches.  But the Cajuns can have some success with the zone read, among other things, while Arkansas State is worrying about McGuire going off for 250 or more yards like he did a year ago.

4.  THROW OFF KNIGHTEN'S TIMING -- Quarterback Fredi Knighten returned last week after missing three games because of an injury and South Alabama was able to force mistakes.  It's important the Cajuns get good pressure on the Red Wolves' quarterback to make him uncomfortable.  But they need to be careful and keep Knighten contained

5.  KEEP YOUR COMPOSURE--There were eight unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the game last year.  The Cajuns need to put the Freddy Jackson incident in the past and make sure they do not retaliate if things get chippy.  Both coaches are emphasizing this in practice this week.  The team that listens to its coach has an advantage.
