FIU’s Wittels Cleared of all Charges in Bahamas
Last season, FIU's Garrett Wittels was the toast of college baseball.
Wittels hit safely in 56 straight games and was just two shy of tying the all-time record in college baseball.
But last summer, it all came crashing down when Wittels and two friends were charged with raping a 17 year old girl. Seventeen is the age of consent in the Bahamas.
Wittels failed to get a hit in the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana, but still put together a solid season. But he still had the charges hanging over his head.
But no more.
Today a Bahamian court dropped all charges against the FIU shortstop.
Wittels went undrafted this past season. He will be a senior in the fall.
