I love my job.  No, you can't have it.

But I'm here in San Antonio chuckling about the whirlwind of the last couple of months. And, I'm not done yet.

Since the week of December 29th, there have been exactly two (2) weeks when I didn't have a road trip that entailed at least two nights on the road (if I'm on a bus and I don't get home until 5am, that's a night on the road.  Trust me.)

Week #1--at UALR (Dec. 29)--One night in a hotel.  One on a bus.

Week #2--at App State--Two nights on the road.  Two hotels in two different cities (Boone/Charlotte)

Week #3--at Georgia Southern--Two nights on the road.  Two hotels in two different cities (Statesboro/Savannah).

Week #4--at Georgia State--Two nights in Atlanta

Week #5--at South Alabama/Texas State.  One night in Mobile, one night in New Orleans.  One flight to San Antonio.  One night in San Marcos.  One six hour bus ride home (arrived 1:30am)

Week #6--A whole week in town.  Be still my heart

Week #7--Two nights in Monroe.  One night in Troy.  Home at 2am

Week 8---One night in Arlington.  Bus ride home, arriving 5am. (Also baseball in Natchitoches that week, but no overnight stay).

Week 9--In town all week.

Then it REALLY got fun.

Friday, March 6--Fly from Lafayette to Memphis through Atlanta.  Arrive Memphis 6:30.  Dinner in Memphis.  Arrive Jonesboro around 10pm.  Spend two nights in Jonesboro.  Go to the Memphis airport early, hoping to get on an earlier flight.  I'm on standby for the 10:40 flight.  I was next in line when they closed the flight.  That happened two more times.  Finally I was on the flight originally scheduled.  Landed in Lafayette 10 pm Sunday.

Then it's time for the Conference basketball tournament.  We left Thursday afternoon.  Saturday after the game with Georgia State, I get word the Cajuns aren't done playing basketball.  After three nights on the road we head home Sunday.  That night at home, I get the call at 8pm:  At Incarnate Word on Tuesday.  But we don't know if we're flying or busing.

Up Monday morning and I know we are headed to San Antonio.  But I still don't know how we're getting there.  Finally the call comes and I pack again.  We bus to San Antonio and will bus back after the game, getting home at 5am Wednesday.

Thursday morning I'm leaving at 6am for the airport to fly to Atlanta for baseball.

When I get home this Sunday night, I'll have spent 26 nights on the road; 23 of them in hotel rooms in 16 different cities.  And that's not counting the 6-7 hour bus rides from San Marcos and Troy where we got home around 2am.

But here's the good news.

Once I get back from Atlanta, my next scheduled overnight trip will be April 16th.  That's three straight weekends in town.

Unless, of course, basketball keeps winning.

Geaux Cajuns!!
