MPCS provides non-medical support services to individuals and families fighting, surviving, and living with cancer.  Since 2002, MPCS has helped 8,000 local families with items like wigs, hats, scarves, nutritional supplements, mastectomy items, and medical supplies.  It has provided services such as support groups, family outings, art classes, a Wellness Center, and much more.  Services are provided at MPCS’ office in Lafayette and on the mobile unit which travels to outlying communities throughout their 10-parish service area.

“This is a huge milestone for us,” says Executive Director Nicole Jones.  “The outpouring of support we have received from this community is what keeps our doors open and allows us to continue helping those who are fighting cancer.  It’s amazing what an organization is capable of when its community stands behind it.”

MPCS receives no government funding and is truly a community supported organization.  Whether it’s through events like Games of Acadiana and Camellia Crossing, or campaigns such as Change for Miles and Miles of Hope, the primary source of funding is community donations and sponsorships.

“Many people have heard of us, but don’t fully understand the capacity of what we offer,” says Jones.  “What better way to celebrate 10 years than to invite those who have supported us since the beginning and show them firsthand what their donations have allowed us to provide to the families we serve.”
