ESPN will no longer be using Hank Williams, Jr. as part of their Monday Night Football open.

But whose idea it was to part ways depends on who you believe.

ESPN issued a statement today saying that they would no longer be using Williams, whose "Rowdy Friends" opening has been a staple of the broadcast, first on ABC and then on ESPN.

But, on his website, Williams says the parting was his decision.

The controversy began when Williams made a comment on Fox News equating President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler.  Williams later apologized for the insensitivity of his remarks.
