Mark Richt is going home.

The former Georgia coach has decided to take the head coaching job at his alma mater, the University of Miami, according to a report on espn.com.

According to the report, the deal is expected to be announced by the end of the week.

Richt was fired just three days ago after compiling a 145-51 record in 15 seasons.  The record included two SEC titles.

He is expected to receive a similar financial deal as he had with the Bulldogs, in the vicinity of $4 million per year.

Richt was a quarterback at Miami from 1979-82 where he was mostly a backup to Jim Kelly.

Richt had reportedly also received overtures from Maryland, South Carolina and Virginia about their head coaching vacancies.

Richt originally had said he would coach Georgia in its bowl game but it is unclear whether that will happen.  Interim coach Larry Scott will coach Miami in its bowl game.  The Hurricanes fired Al Golden midway through the season.
