The Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana will have a new name beginning in 2014. The Robertson family of Duck Dynasty fame have acquired the naming rights.

As first reported by The Tim Fletcher Show, the Independence Bowl will now be called the "Duck Commander Independence Bowl". It's reportedly a 6 year agreement.

"Duck Commander" is a multi-million dollar business owned by the Robertson family. The business produces duck calls. Their trademark duck calls are aptly called "duck commander".

The family's success reached new heights when the television network A&E began broadcasting the family's daily lives. The reality show became the highest rated show on the network, as audiences loved the Robertson family.

The Robertson family are sports fans, as Phil played quarterback at Louisiana Tech in the late 60s, starting ahead of Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. Robertson was offered a contract by the Washington Redskins, but declined because football season conflicted with duck hunting season.

Duck Commander becomes the 7th sponsor of the Independence Bowl, which began operating in 1976.
