In an interview to air on the Dr. Phil show on Thursday, Ronaiah Tuiasusopo admits to the hoax involving Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o, admits he is “confused” about his sexuality and says he wanted a romantic relationship with Te’o.

A portion of the interview was aired Wednesday on NBC’s “The Today Show,” which featured a guest appearance by Dr. Phil McGraw.

Tuiasusopo says the voice pretending to be Te’o's girlfriend Lennay Kakua was his.

During the interview, McGraw asks Tuiasusopo if he is gay.  After saying yes, he then says he’s “confused.”

Tuiasusopo stressed Te’o knew nothing of the ruse.
