I-10 Westbound Closure, Downed Trees, Downed Power Lines In Acadiana After Major Thunderstorm Moves Through Area
There are dozens of reports of downed power lines and trees throughout the Acadiana area after a major thunderstorm starting moving through the area just before 8 a.m. this morning.
Several areas have traffic backed up after high winds led to trees and power lines being thrown to the ground.
Louisiana State Police is reporting a tree across the interstate at mile marker 123 on the Westbound side of Interstate Ten. The Interstate is open, but traffic is moving slowly. Two Lafayette schoolsare closing today due to issues caused by the storm. St. Pius is closing today due to issues with electricity, while Ascension Episcopal on Johnston Street is closed after a tree damaged part of the school. No one was injured.
