Anthony Davis went into attack mode against the T-Wolves, and he carried the Pelicans to a 114-99 win at home in "The Blender."

In an intriguing matchup of young former Kentucky big men, Davis was matched up with Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns all night in the post. Davis flexed a little muscle over his younger counterpart for 35 points (13-22 FG, 8-10 FT, 1-2 3-pt) and seven rebounds. While Towns registered a 20 point, 13 rebound double-double, he had to shoot the ball 17 times to get that result.

When Jrue Holiday plays well to compliment Davis in the post, this Pelicans team shows glimpses of the promise we all saw heading into the season. In the win, he came up with 19 clutch points and nine assists...one short of a double-double. His connection, along with Davis' production in the post, opened things up for Tyreke Evans, Dante Cunningham and Eric Gordon, who combined for 35 points that ultimately made the difference.

The Pels' supporting cast backed up their star, and the only real negative takeaway was Gordon leaving the game in the third quarter with a hand injury.

Since the lower portion of the Western Conference appears to be pretty weak, the Pelicans still have a chance at the playoffs with a 14-27 record. If Anthony Davis can duplicate his efforts versus Minnesota in their next few games, the Pels might start closing up the large disparity between their wins and losses.

Lady luck hasn't been very kind to the Pelicans lately, so a fifteen point win is definite reason for celebration. With Davis on the team, there will always be hope moving forward.
