The New York Daily News is reporting New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez could be facing a lifetime ban from baseball because of his role in the Miami biogenesis case.

According to the report, MLB is offering Rodriguez a plea deal which would suspend him through the end of the 2014 season in lieu of the lifetime ban, and could return to the major leagues opening day of the 2015 season.

The report says Major League Baseball has "voluminous evidence" connecting A-Rod with the scandal.  But Rodriguez reportedly has said he would reject any deal.

This story seems to change daily.  But assuming the report is correct, we could hear a ruling on the situation before the week is out.
