Beano Cook, a staple of college football for over 50 years, died today at the age of 81.

Cook, a Pittsburgh native, worked as a sports publicist for the University of Pittsburgh back in the 50s. His career in covering college football led him to CBS and ABC. Eventually Cook landed at ESPN in 1986 as a studio analyst. He remained in that position for the last 26 years.
