Clippers Cruise Past Hornets 97-85

Five days after the Hornets rocked the Clippers in New Orleans, Chris Paul and his Los Angeles teammates got their revenge with a 97-85 win Monday night on the West Coast.

While the L.A. Clippers will get credit for the win, the Hornets turnovers had much more to do with their loss. An NBA season-high 29 turnovers is simply embarrassing. The Clippers scored 35 points off of it.

Monty Williams, usually calm and collected, was visibly irate at his team’s performance.

Former Clipper Al-Farouq Aminu led the Hornets in scoring with 15. Carl Landry (pictured left with Williams) added 14 in 28 minutes of play.

Paul had a much better showing than he did last week in his return to NOLA. Chris scored a game-high 25 points and dished out a game-high 10 assists. His All-Star teammate Blake Griffin scored 20.

The Hornets played without their two starters down low. Former Clipper Chris Kaman missed the game with flu like symptoms, while Jason Smith sat out the second of his two-game suspension.

New Orleans remains without former Clipper Eric Gordon, who was the biggest fish in the Chris Paul trade last December. Gordon (knee) has missed all but two games this season, but is expected to return to the floor sometime in April.

The Hornets will travel to Oakland for a Wednesday night matchup with the Golden State Warriors. Tip-off is set for 9:30.
