The Cleveland Cavaliers, who became the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-to-1 deficit to win the championship, are going to give former coach David Blatt a championship ring.

That's the word from Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.

And it's the right move by the Cavaliers.

Yeah, the Cavs won the championship with Tyronn Lue at the helm, but Blatt did help lay the foundation, guiding Cleveland the 2015 NBA Finals the season, before leading them to a 30-11 record to start last season, prior to being terminated.

Blatt, who is now the head coach of Darüsşafaka Doğuş in Turkey, probably won't show up for the Cavaliers' ring ceremony, which is scheduled for October 25, but it is the correct thing to do by the organization.

The 57-year old Blatt accumulated a 83-40 record in two seasons with the Cavs.

Blatt, who helped guide Maccabi Tel Aviv to the 2013-2014 Euroleague title, is one of the most successful American coaches in European basketball history, being named the Israeli League Coach of the Year four times (1996, 2002, 2011, and 2014), the Russian Super League Coach of the Year one time (2005), and the Euroleague Coach of the Year once (2014).
