During Charlie Sheen‘s meltdown after his exit from ‘Two and a Half Men‘ last year — something he now realizes was pretty ugly — he said some rather unpleasant things about his former boss, Chuck Lorre. But now Sheen seems to have some regrets about that, too.

While promoting his upcoming comedy ‘Anger Management‘ at FX’s Summer Comedy party on Tuesday, the actor told the Hollywood Reporter:

['Two and a Half Men' for me] ended in such a stupid way, that’s mostly on me … It all got icky because of me. Those guys were fine; they were classy. I was a f—ing idiot.

When it was good, it was great, man … Chuck Lorre gave me this arena to explore and succeed in and have a dream life. Thank you, Chuck. Seriously, Print that. He’s a f—ing genius. Print ‘thank you, Chuck.’

As for the sometimes lagging ratings of his old show since Ashton Kutcher replaced him, Sheen added, “They’re doing the best they can, man … They lost their anchor. It’s not an insult; it’s just — c’mon, guys, get it together. You can still win.”

But all that aside, he’s ready to move on with ‘Anger Management’ and praised its showrunner, Bruce Helford. “[He's] the greatest showrunner alive. Period. The end,” Sheen said. “[He's] compassionate, smart, noble [and] integral.”

Check out ‘Anger Management’ when it premieres tonight — Thursday, June 28 — at 9 p.m. on FX.
