Matthew Owens, a senior quarterback for Cathedral High School, lifted his left arm for two strides as he raced across the 20-yard line during the final minutes of a game at Bentley University.
It was the final minutes of what had been an undefeated season.
Owens turned around in the end zone and saw the flag, which was for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Rival Blue Hills Regional Technical School ended up winning the game, 16-14.
