In what can be called one of the most amazing finishes in Cajuns football history (including the win over Texas A&M in the 90's), Brett Baer's first 50 yard field goal gave the Cajuns it's first Bowl victory in the history of the university's program.
Carencro Advances To 5A Title Game, Breaux Bridge & VC Fall
The Carencro High Bears have advanced to the class 5A state championship game, after defeating Byrd, 34-21, in the semifinal round of the LHSAA football playoffs, on Friday night.
Carencro, the #7 seed in the 5A bracket moves onto the title game, against 5th-seeded West Monroe, who defeated Mandeville, 26-14, on Friday evening.
The Carencro/West Monroe game championship game will be held on Saturday, December 10, at 7 pm, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, in New Orleans.
Breaux Bridge and Vermilion Catholic weren't as fortunate however.
The Tigers fell to Neville, 16-7, in a class 4A semifinal, while the Screaming Eagles lost for the first time all year, dropping a 54-41 class 1A semifinal contest to West St. John.
