Saints linebacker Jonathan Casillas was supposed to start at weak side linebacker for the defending Super Bowl Champions last year. Instead, he broke his foot and missed the entire 2010 season. Since his Lisfranc foot surgery last September, he's been on the road to recovery. Here is more from Mike Triplett of the Times Picayune and nola.com.

Casillas said he has been running for months and has been working out with teammates at Tulane, though he said he hasn't been pushing himself too much because he doesn't want to risk a setback.

"I'm right on pace," said Casillas, who insisted he will "definitely be 100 percent" by the time training camp comes around -- if it comes around.

Casillas continues recovery

If Casillas makes a full recovery, it would be a huge boost for the Saints defense. Gregg Williams doesn't insert a player into his starting lineup if he's not ready to play. Jonathan was penciled in as the starter heading into the 2010 season. Of all the positions on the Saints depth chart, linebacker has the least amount of depth. A 2010 training camp version of Jonathan Casillas would be a welcome addition to an area of need.
