Making his first collegiate start, Eric Carter struck out eleven and allowed just five hits through seven innings as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns stormed past Southern University 14-1 in a game called after eight innings because of the ten run rule.

Carter (1-1) allowed just two hits through his first six innings of work and struck out at least one batter in each inning as the Cajuns (18-13) won their third straight game.

Carter got plenty of support as the Cajuns pounded out 18 hits.  Stefan Trosclair, Tyler Girouard and Greg Davis each had three hits with Trosclair hitting his fourth home run in his last five games.  Trosclair drove in three runs, as did Evan Powell, who had his second homer of the season.

Blake Trahan increased his hitting streak to 22 games, one off the school record, with an RBI triple.  In all, eleven different Cajuns had hits in the contest.

J/Markus George (1-4) allowed five runs over five innings and took the loss for Southern (10-17).

The Cajuns played errorless ball for the third time in the last four games.

The Cajuns are scheduled to host Jackson State in a three game series this weekend at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
