The St. Louis Cardinals won Game 1 of the World Series Wednesday night with an exciting 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. The play of the game came on a go-ahead pinch-hit single by Allen Craig (pictured left) in the bottom of the 6th. It marked the first go-ahead RBI by a pinch hitter in the world series since Wade Boggs did it back in 1996.

Starter Chris Carpenter earned the win with 6.o innings pitched, 5 hits, and 2 earned runs. He struck out 4 and walked 1 before handing the ball off to the bullpen in the 7th. As they've done postseason, the Cardinals bullpen was called on and delievered in glorious fashion.

Game 2 will take place tonight at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. First pitch is set for 7:05.
