Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team opened their 2012-2013 season in nice fashion on Sunday, defeating the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 90-79, in non-conference action at the Cajundome.

Oakland led the game, 42-37 at the half, but Louisiana outscored the Golden Grizzlies, 53-37, in the second half, to pick-up the 11-point win.

The Cajuns out-shot the Golden Grizzlies from the field, 58%-46%, and forced 20 Oakland turnovers.

Leading the way for UL were Eldridge Moore and Bryant Mbamalu, who each scored 15 points, while Shawn Long and Elfrid Payton each added 14, with Payton dishing out eight assists.

In a losing cause for Oakland, Duke Mondy scored a game-high 30 points.

With the win, Louisiana is 1-0, while Oakland dropped to 1-1.

The Cajuns return to the hardwood on Friday night, when they travel to Houston, Texas, to take on Texas Southern.
