The 21st-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are one away from a conference championship, after a superb pitching performance by Summer Ellyson.

Second-seeded Louisiana defeated the top-seeded Texas St. Bobcats, 1-0, in the third day of play in the Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship at Lamson Park.

A sophomore right-hander, Ellyson was the story, tossing a complete-game no-hitter, while facing the minimum in a masterful performance.

Ellyson outdueled Texas St. pitcher Randi Rupp, who allowed only two infield singles and an unearned run.

The triumph moves UL into the championship game, against either Texas St., Troy, or UTA.

With the victory, the Cajuns, who have won 14-of-18 titles since the tournament first began back in 2000, improved to 58-8 all-time in the event.

UL, who won 2-of-3 against Texas St. in a three-game series earlier in the season, moved to 3-1 on the season against the Bobcats.

Louisiana scored the first, and only run of the game in the top half of the 6th inning, when Kelli Martinez reached on a bunt single, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error, and then scored on a squeeze bunt off the bat of Kara Gremillion, to take a 1-0 lead.

That was all that Ellyson would need, as she tossed the no-hitter, facing the minimum 21 batters, while pitching UL to the 1-0 win.

Louisiana, who outhit Texas St., 2-0, was paced at the plate by Martinez and Brittany Rodriguez, who picked-up the only hits of the game, while Kara Gremillion recorded the only run batted in.

Ellyson (21-7) recorded the win in the circle for the Cajuns, tossing the no-hitter, while walking one and striking out 6.

The no-hitter marked the second of Ellyson's career, and the first individual no-hitter in the conference tournament since 2010, and the sixth in the history of the event.

Randi Rupp (26-10) suffered the loss for the Bobcats, allowing only one unearned run on two hits.
