Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team wrapped-up play in the three-day Beryl Shipley Classic on Sunday, defeating the Nicholls St. Colonels, 84-57, at the Cajundome.

The Cajuns led it at the half, 36-31, and then outscored Nicholls St., 48-26, in the second half, for the  victory.

UL was able to out-shoot Nicholls state from the field, 52%-33%, and were also able to out-rebound the Colonels, by a 38-29 count.

The Cajuns were led by sophomore forward J.J. Thomas, who had 15 points, and seven rebounds, while junior guard Darnell Jackson added 12 points, and five boards.

In a losing cause, Chris Talkington paced the Colonels, with 16 points, and eight rebounds.

With the win, UL improves to 3-3 on the year, while Nicholls St. drops to 1-4.

The Cajuns return to action this Saturday, when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to take on the Duquesne Dukes, in  non-conference action.
