The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns took advantage of six walks in the late innings to win their seventh straight game, defeating New Orleans, 6-3 Wednesday night before 3,795 at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Louisiana (29-15) jumped out to a 3-0 lead, only to have UNO tie the score with a three run sixth inning.  But the Cajuns got a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and added another in the eighth to get the win despite having only four hits in the contest.

The Cajuns got on the board in the second inning when UNO second baseman Jay Robinson dropped Dylan Butler's pop into short right center for an error.  Butler went to third on Greg Davis' single up the middle and scored on an Evan Powell sacrifice fly for an early 1-0 lead.

It stayed that way until the fifth when reliever Hunter Medine (0-3) walked Nick Thurman with one out.  Derek Herrington then pounded a Medine offering over the left field wall for his second homer of the season, to stretch the lead to 3-0.

After Will Bacon, Eric Carter and Logan Stoelke scattered six hits through five innings, UNO (14-30) rallied against Louisiana's Connor Toups.  Former Cajun Sam Carriere singled with one out, but after Toups struck out Matt Rykaczewski for the second out, the lefty walked Preston Morse.  Hezekiah Randolph doubled to score Carriere and Jonathan Santana followed with a double to right center to tie the game.

The Cajuns answered right back, however, as Medine walked Stefan Trosclair to open the sixth.  Tyler Girouard greeted reliever MItchell Cohen with a single, sending Trosclair to third and Trosclair scored when Dylan Butler hit into a force play.  After Davis flied to the wall in center, Powell walked and Thurman delivered a single to left, scoring Butler to give the Cajuns a two run lead.

Butler walked to open the eighth, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on pinch hitter Brenn Conrad's ground ball to end the scoring.

Chris Charpentier (3-3) who got out of the jam in the sixth, was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit in 1.1 innings.  Reagan Bazar got the Privateers in order in the eighth and Dylan Moore did the same in the ninth, recording his seventh save of the season.

Both Kyle Clement (9) and Stefan Trosclair (13) saw their respective hitting streaks come to an end.

The Cajuns' seven pitchers allowed ten hits, but walked only one batter and struck out eight.

Louisiana now looks to extend its winning streak this weekend when they take on Appalachian State in Boone NC.  Game times are scheduled for 5pm, 1pm and 12 noon (CDT.)
