Louisiana's Ragin Cajun women put up a valiant effort against the Sun Belt Conference's best team Saturday afternoon, but fell short as UALR remained unbeaten in the Sun Belt by a 57-52 score.

The Trojans (16-5, 10-0 Sun Belt) won the game at the free throw line.  The Trojans hit 15-19 from the charity stripe, while the Cajuns  were just 6-11.

Mercedes Johnson had another yeoman's effort in defeat for the Cajuns.  The junior forward had 17 points and 15 rebounds for Coach Errol Rogers' squad, now 11-13, 3-7 in league play.  D'Mya Clay also reached double figures with 14 points.

Azriel Rolfe was the top scorer for the Trojans with 18 points.  Marian Kersh added 12.  Chastity Reed, who leads the team in scoring at 19 ppg, was held to just 11 points.

The Cajuns shot 39% from the field, compared to 40% for UALR, and outrebounded the Trojans 36-29.

The Cajuns make the Florida swing next week, taking on Florida International and Florida Atlantic.
