Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns basketball team is scheduled to leave early afternoon Wednesday for their trip to Little Rock to take on UALR Thursday night at the Stephens Center.

But before they can head out, they have to keep an eye on which roads on their trip are open and closed.

There are two major ways to get to Little Rock.  One is to take I-49 to US 167 and drive north through Jonesboro, Ruston, and El Dorado Arkansas.  US 167 takes you right into the capital of the Natural State.

The other is to take I-49 to Shreveport, head up to Texarkana and then go east on I-30.  This is the route the buses normally take because US 167 is very much a stop and start route.

As of 9:30 Wednesday morning, Interstate 49 is closed through the city of Alexandria from mile marker 80-94.  If that stretch remains closed throughout the day, an alternate route, possibly through the center of Alexandria, might be in order.

The Cajuns are hoping by the time they get to Alexandria (around 3pm), the roads will be open and give them a smooth trip.

When they get there, they'll face a UALR team (10-10, 5-3) coming off a blowout loss at Arkansas State in their last outing.

But first they have to get there.
