For the third season in a row, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and LSU Tigers will meet in the annual Wally Pontiff, Jr. Classic tonight at the Shrine on Airline in Metairie, LA.

Game time is at 7:00 pm and can be heard on ESPN 1420.

The Cajuns (18-13-1) are coming off a weekend split of their three game series at Coastal Carolina, while LSU (22-11) is coming off a series win at Arkansas.

The Tigers and Cajuns are meeting in the Classic for the fourth time overall.  The Classic is held in honor of the former LSU third baseman, who passed away in 2002 because of a heart condition.  The proceeds from the game go to the Wally Pontiff, Jr. Foundation, which benefits charity organizations around the state.

LSU took an 8-5 win last year in the game, and defeated the Cajuns 8-6 in the 2015 season.

Overall, LSU has won the last four meetings between the two teams and eight of the last ten.  The last win for the Cajuns was in 2014, when they defeated the Tigers 4-1 at Alex Box Stadium.

Jack Burk (2-3, 2.23) will get the start for the Cajuns, while Paul Mainieri will counter with Matthew Beck (1-0, 0.69).  The Tigers are expected to use multiple pitchers during the contest.

The Cajuns will return home to M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park this weekend for a three game Sun Belt Conference series with Arkansas State.  Games will be played Thursday, Friday and Saturday because of the Easter Holiday.  Thursday and Friday games are at 6:00 pm, while Saturday's game will be played at 1:00 pm.
