The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns wrapped up the Ragin' Cajuns Classic on Monday with a doubleheader against the California Golden Bears.

In game one Summer Ellyson took to the mound looking to continue her early season dominance. She didn't disappoint throwing a complete game, giving up just one run, five hits, one walk, and struck out five Cal hitters. It also only took her 76 pitches to get through those seven innings, talk about efficient.

As for the offense, they were clicking on all cylinders in innings three and five as they dropped three runs on the Golden Bears in each of those innings.

In the third inning, Casidy Chaumont got things going with a one-out double, Kara Gremillion walked and then with two-outs it was more home run magic from Raina O'Neal who hit her second homer of the year. This one was good for three RBI's and initially gave the Cajuns a 3-0 lead.

In the fifth, again Chaumont got things going by reaching on an error and Keeli Milligan reached on a fielders choice when Cal third baseman Karlee Sparacino committed a throwing error. Those two errors would come back to haunt Cal as Kara Gremillion cleaned things up with a two-RBI triple. O'Neal then lined out to centerfield but scored Gremillion from third base on the sac-fly. 6-0 UL.

Cal got one back in the top of the sixth as Ellyson gave up her first run of the season in three starts but then Louisiana answered right back in the bottom of the inning when Lexie Comeaux launched one to right-center for a solo home run.

The Cajuns took game one 7-1.

With the win, the team moved to 5-0 and Summer Ellyson improved her record to 3-0.

Summer Ellyson also got the start in game two as I had mentioned she only needed 76 pitches to shut down the California lineup in the previous game. However, the Golden Bears jumped on the Cajuns first in this one as Ellyson hit Lindsay Rood to lead off the top of the first. She was moved to second on a fielders choice and then scored on an infield hit by the Cal left fielder Mikayla Coelho. 1-0 Cal.

Then, we would be back and forth until the 5th inning where the Cal Bears were clinging to a 3-2 lead with Cal pitcher Kamalani Dung recording the first two outs early in the inning. From there, chaos ensued for the Golden Bears as Dung walked Bailey Curry, Hudak singled, Alissa Dalton walked to load the bases and then the turning point was when Julie Rawls was hit on an 0-2 pitch that forced in a run and tied the game at three. Lexie Comeaux then broke things open with a smash single that scored two runs and then shortstop Rood committed a fielding error on a Chaumont ground ball that scored two more runs. The Cajuns grabbed a 7-3.

They wouldn't relinquish that lead as Summer Ellyson found her groove late by retiring the last 11 batters she faced to complete the two-game sweep of the California Golden Bears.

With the win, Louisiana moves to 6-0 on the season and Ellyson grabbed her second win of the night improving to 4-0 on the year.

Up next for Louisiana is a date with Jackson State at home on Friday at 4 pm in the 33rd annual Louisiana Classic.
