The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns basketball team had a cold night in Boone and it wasn't just the weather. It was 27 degrees in Boone but the Cajuns shooting seemed to  be colder early on as the Appalachian State Mountaineers started out hot with 17 straight points. The Mountaineers were able to defeat the Cajuns 104-77 as they fell to 13-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

Tyrell Johnson led the Mountaineers in scoring at the end of the first half with 14 points while Jakeenan Gant led the Cajuns with 9 points.

The second half wasn't much better for the Cajuns they slipping on the slope up in the mountains and it proved to be too much to get up get back in the game. The Cajuns struggled to get any closer than the 11 points that they were behind in the first half. The Cajuns also had an abnormally high number of turnovers with 21 on the night. Jakeenan Gant continued to put up double-double numbers despite spending a lot of the second half on the bench as he scored 15 points and added 10 rebounds.

The Cajuns will look to rebound from the loss as they will play Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 1 PM CT and then they will return home for 3 straight games with 2 coming next week. They will play Georgia Southern on Wednesday night and then they play Georgia State Friday night on ESPN2.
