Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad travels to Troy, Alabama to take on the Troy Trojans in a Sun Belt Conference tilt.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 4:15 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on our sister-station, Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, beginning with the pregame show at 3:45 pm.

The match-up will be the second game of a short two-game road trip for Louisiana, and will also be the back-end of a women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL women taking on Troy at 2 o’clock.

Louisiana, who is coming off of a 67-55 road loss to ULM on Thursday, is 13-12, overall, and 7-7 in league play, while Troy, who fell to South Alabama, 71-62, on Thursday, is currently 9-14, overall, and 4-10 in Sun Belt Conference play.

UL currently sits in fifth-place in the Sun Belt Conference standings, while Troy is tied for tenth.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 78.7/71.6, while out-shooting foes from the floor, 46.2%/43.2%, and holding down a 39.6/33.7 rebounding edge.

UL is paced by junior forward Shawn Long, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, at 17.3 ppg, and 10.4 rpg, respectively, and senior forward Brian Williams, who is averaging 10.4 points, to go along with 3.7 rebounds a contest.

Louisiana is 3-8 away from home this season, including a 3-4 conference road mark.

The Trojans are being out-scored by the opposition, 68.1/66.3, while being out-shot by foes from the field, 42.2%/41.7%, and out-rebounded, 35.9/35.0.

Louisiana won the first meeting between the two squads earlier this year, defeating Troy, 91-64, back on January 3 at the Cajundome.
