Cajuns’ Schmidt Named Second Team All-American
Louisiana left hander Colten Schmidt, the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, has been named a second team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Schmidt finished the season 7-0 with a 2.45 ERA. His 106.3 innings pitched are the most of any pitcher named to the three teams. Schmidt walked only nine batters and struck out 90 during that time. Opponents could muster only a .214 batting average against him. Schmidt allowed three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his 15 starts.
Joey Denison of Troy was the other Sun Belt player named to the second team as an All-American, while a trio of Coastal Carolina players, second baseman Cory Wood, first baseman Kevin Woodall, Jr. and shortstop Seth Lancaster were all named to the third team, as was Southland Player of the Year David Fry of Northwestern State.
