Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team won their eight-consecutive game on Saturday, defeating the Georgia St. Panthers, 35-21, in Sun Belt Conference action at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

That 8-game win streak ties the school record for consecutive wins, equaling the  win streak that the 1976 team had to begin the year.

Louisiana led at the end of the first quarter, 7-0, and took a 21-14 into the locker room at half, before outscoring Georgia St., 14-7, in the second half, to capture the 14-point win, along with their fourth road win of the season.

The Cajuns out-gained the Panthers, in terms of total yards, 495-481, including a 261-183 advantage on the ground.

Louisiana was led by quarterback Terrance Broadway, who completed 10-of-16 passes, for 234 yards, along with four touchdowns, while Elijah McGuire and Alonzo Harris combined for 34 carries and 186 rushing yards, with McGuire, the freshman, running for 107.

In a losing cause for Georgia St. Keith Rucker caught six passes for 121 yards.

With the win, the Cajuns improve to 8-2 overall, and remain in sole possession of first place atop the Sun Belt Conference Standings, with a 5-0 league mark.

With the loss, the Panthers remain winless, as they fell to 0-10, and 0-5, respectively.
