Coming home was just what the doctor ordered for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

The Cajuns opened up an eight point halftime lead and never led by fewer than nine points in the second half as Louisiana rolled to a 76-53 win over Jackson State before 3,572 Wednesday night at the CAJUNDOME.

Devonte Walker led the Cajuns with 19 points, while Brian Williams added 15.  Shawn Long and Kasey Shepherd scored nine points each.

Derell Taylor was the only player in double figures for Jackson State with 17 points.

Louisiana (3-3) took the lead for good at the 15:51 mark of the first half when Long hit a pair of free throws to give the Cajuns an 8-6 advantage.  It was still a two point game, 12-10 at the 14:16 mark before the Cajuns went on an 11-2 run fueled by Walker and Williams, who combined for eight points during that span.  Jackson State (1-6) got within four points on several occasions, but Louisiana closed the half on an 8-2 run to build a 35-27 halftime lead.

The lead quickly got to 13 points early in the second half after a three point play by Williams and a pair of Walker free throws.  The Tigers were within single digits for the last time after a Jaleel Queary layup at the 17:24 mark.  Leading by eleven with 13:58 left, the Cajuns had another 11-2 spurt to build the lead to twenty, 62-42 with 11:47 left.

The Cajuns shot 47.2 percent for the game (25-53) despite making only two of ten from beyond the arc.  Louisiana outscored Jackson State 24-4 at the free throw line as Louisiana shot 75% from the line. Walker made nine out of ten.

Jackson State was held to just 33.8% shooting and only 3-15 on three point attempts.  The Cajuns outrebounded the Tigers 48-33 with Long and Walker combining for 17 boards.  In addition, the Cajuns had ten blocked shots.  Long led the way with four, while Jay Wright and Aaron Leblanc had two apiece.

The Cajuns now head to Lake Charles this Saturday for a game with McNeese State.  Game time is set for 7pm at Burton Coliseum.
