The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns unofficially opened their 2017-18 season by defeating Millsaps College, 112-63 before 1,414 fans at the Cajundome Thursday night.

Coach Bob Marlin substituted liberally as only two players logged as many as twenty minutes of action.

Seven Cajuns scored in double figures, led by sophomore Justin Miller with 15 points.  JaKeenan Gant added 14, while Bryce Washington had 13 points and led the Cajuns in rebounding with ten.  Frank Bartley IV scored eleven points, with Johnathan Stove, freshman Cedric Russell and Mason Aucoin chipping in eleven points apiece.

The Cajuns raced out to a 59-34 halftime lead and, for the game, outscored Millsaps 62-20 in the paint, 33-6 off turnovers, 23-14 in second chance points and 18-0 in fast break points.

Louisiana shot 56.6% from the field and made 7-25 (28%) from three point range.  Russell led the Cajuns with a trio of triples in five attempts.  The Cajuns were also 19-25 (76%) from the free throw line.

Millsaps was led by Thaddeus Gonzales and Michael Sullivan with 13 points apiece.  The visitors shot 35% from the field and turned it over 25 times compared to just nine fo the Cajuns.

Louisiana opens the regular season next Friday at Ole Miss.
