The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are going to have to count on some youngsters to play at a high level if they're going to be as good as fans have come to expect.

Collegiate Baseball says they can do it.

The website slots the Cajuns as the #18 team in the country in their preseason "Fabulous Forty."

But, although they're getting a lot of preseason respect, they aren't the highest ranked team from the Sun Belt.  Defending champion South Alabama is slotted one spot ahead of the Cajuns at #17.  The Cajuns are not scheduled to play South Alabama in conference play, but the two teams have a three game non-conference series at Russo Park March 9-11.

Defending champion Florida the preseason #1 and they are one of five Southeastern Conference schools in the top ten, joining (3) Arkansas, (6) Vanderbilt, (8) Kentucky and (10 LSU.

The Cajuns are set to face both Vanderbilt and Kentucky in the Shriner's College Classic at Minute Maid Park March 2-4.  The Cajuns also have two meetings scheduled against LSU in the 2018 season.

Other ranked teams on the Cajuns' schedule include #13 Mississippi State (Shriners Classic), two games at #25 Southern Miss and three games at #26 Texas.

Eleven of the Cajuns' first 15 games are against ranked squads.
