The long-awaited day has arrived.

After much anticipation and construction delays, M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park opens its doors for the first time tonight when the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (4-3) host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (7-1) in the first of a three game series.

No, the stadium isn't finished and won't be totally completed until sometime in late April/Early May.  But the seats are in and the fans are more than ready.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm and will be heard on KPEL 96.5 FM.  Saturday's game is set for 2:00 pm and Sunday's contest will be a 1:00 pm start.

The Cajuns will send left handed ace Gunner Leger to the mound.  Leger (1-1, 1.80) has allowed just five hits in ten innings of work in his two starts.  He pitched six shutout innings in his last start against Sam Houston State.  He'll be opposed by RHP Hayden Roberts (0-0, 5.79.)  Roberts has given up 16 hits in 9.1 innings but has struck out a phenomenal 20 batters during that stretch.

Saturday RHP Nick Lee (2-0, 0.69) will take the mound for the Cajuns.  Lee has allowed just seven hits in 13 innings.  LHP Kirk McCarty (2-0 1.46) will be his mound opponent.  McCarty has allowed just six hits in 12.1 innings so far this year.

Sunday Southern Miss will start a freshman, Cody Carroll (0-0, 8.59) who will be making his third consecutive start.  Evan Guillory (0-2, 13.50) will take the hill for the Cajuns.

The Cajuns are hitting just .237 as a club, but have double digit hits in each of the last three games and are hitting .308 in that span.

Southern Miss has won all seven of its games at Pete Taylor Park this season and dropped their only road contest to Alabama.  Scoring runs hasn't been an issue for the Golden Eagles as they are hitting .318 with ten home runs on the season.  Southern Miss is averaging nearly ten runs per game.

Single game tickets, if available, will go on sale 90 minutes before each pitch.
