Louisiana Ragin' Cajun outfielder Kyle Clement has been named Sun Belt Conference hitter of the week.

The Jeanerette native was named a Louisville Slugger National player of the week, as well as LSWA hitter of the week yesterday.

Clement is racking up on the honors because of a 10-of-21 week at the plate where he hit 3 homeruns, 9 RBI, 3 doubles and was responsible for the game winning run in 4 of the 5 wins, including the Walk-Off winner yesterday to cap off a sweep of UTA.

“I’m glad for Clement. He had to sit and wait last season behind a group of good outfielders, and now he is making the most of his opportunity," said Louisiana head coach Tony Robichaux yesterday when Clement earned Louisville Slugger and LSWA honors. "He worked while he waited, and that hard work and effort has showed over the last two weeks.”

Clement is the third Cajuns to earn Sun Belt Conference player of the week honors this season. Shortstop Blake Trahan earned the award in early March, while second basemen Stefan Trosclair took home the honor 4 weeks ago.

Louisiana returns to the diamond tomorrow at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field when they host the UNO Privateers. First pitch is set for 6:00, with pregame beginning at 5:30. Listen to the action on ESPN1420, espn1420.com and the free app RadioPup. Jay Walker has the call.
