Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's basketball teams will both be in action today in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Hot Springs, AR.

And, both will be taking on the Mean Green of North Texas.

The 11th seeded women (9-20, 3-17 Sun Belt) are in action at 2:30 Friday afternoon against the 6th seeded Mean Green (11-17, 10-10) on the floor of the Summit Arena. North Texas won both of the regular season meetings, 71-59 on December 1 in Denton, TX, and 64-46 at Earl K. Long Gym on January 30th.

Freshmen lead the way for both squads.  Keke Veal (Eunice, St. Thomas More) and Sylvana Okde (Houston) lead the Cajuns in scoring, while North Texas is led by SBC Freshman of the Year Loryn Goodwin (Houston) and Alexis Hyder (Austin), both of whom average 13 points per game.

Tipoff is at 2:30 pm and will be heard on espn1420 beginning at 2:15.

Then tonight, it's first round action for the men as #9 North Texas (12-19, 7-13) take on the eighth seeded Cajuns (12-19, 8-12) on the Convention Center Court.  The Cajuns won both of the regular season meetings, 80-76 in Denton on December 1, and 105-74 at the Cajundome on January 31.

In the two games, Sun Belt Freshman of the year Shawn Long led the way, averaging 25 points and nine rebounds.  Bryant Mbamalu had 18.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, while first team all-conference guard Elfrid Payton averaged 19 points and 9 assists.

North Texas was led by Jordan Williams, who had 31 points in the loss in Lafayette.  Chris Jones, who did not play in the second game because of injury, scored 22 points in the first meeting.

Second team All-Conference performer Tony Mitchell, who is expected to be a first round pick in the upcoming NBA draft, was held in check in the two games, averaging five points and 4.5 rebounds.

The teams meet tonight at 6:30.  Airtime on espn1420 and Hot 107.9 is at 6pm
