Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns have conducted an interview with coach Lewis Caralla, the former director of strength and conditioning director at North Texas, according to a source.

Louisiana has an opening for the strength and conditioning position left by Rusty Whitt, who departed for the same position at Texas Tech.

Caralla has a history with Ragin' Cajun head football coach Mark Hudspeth. Both men served on Mississippi State's coaching staff in 2009 and 2010. Hudspeth was the passing game coordinator, while Caralla was the graduate assistant strength coach. Caralla also has a master's in kinesiology from Mississippi State.

Following his time with the Bulldogs, Caralla served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Georgia Tech in 2010 and 2011, before filling the same role at the University of Michigan.

Last season, Caralla was North Texas football director of strength and conditioning.

The strength and conditioning coaching hire at UL will be for the athletic department, not just the football team. During Whitt's tenure, he served the football, baseball, track and field and swimming.

Here is a video of Caralla while at Michigan, demonstrating how to properly use a hex bar power pull and the benefit of the workout.
