The official season opener is still eight days away, and the home opener two weeks away, but the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will play an outside opponent for the first time in the 2016-17 season as they host West Florida in their annual exhibition game to be played at historic Blackham Coliseum.

Game time is set for 7:05 pm.  Admission is free.  There will be no radio broadcast of the game, but live stats will be available at ragincajuns.com.

The Cajuns finished 19-15 a season ago and return three starters, a total of five players and welcome a slew of newcomers, including three redshirts as they embark on the new campaign.  Senior Jay Wright, along with juniors Bryce Washington and Johnathon Stove highlight the returnees, while junior transfer Frank Bartley IV, who played two years at BYU will add experience in the back court.

West Florida is a Division II school in Pensacola, Florida.  The Argonauts return four starters from a squad that went 7-19 a season ago.  Senor forward Austin Somerfield (15,3 ppg/8.9 rpg) and senior guard Mario Stramaglia (12.0 ppg/ 36% 3-pt) are the two top returning scorers.

The Cajuns open the regular season Friday November 11 at MInnesota and visit Montana State Monday, November 14 before opening the home schedule Thursday, November 17 against Panhandle State at Blackham.
