Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team returns to the gridiron on Saturday evening, when coach Mark Hudspeth’s squad plays host to the Akron Zips, in a non-conference match-up.

The Cajun Harley Davidson Tailgate begins at 4 pm on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, with the rest of the network, including Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, joining the broadcast in time for the Hampton Toyota Pregame Show, which will begin at 5 pm.

Kickoff time at Cajun Field is set for 6 o’clock.

The game, which marks the second home game of the year for UL, will also mark the second time in the last two seasons that the two schools have played.

Louisiana, who had the week off last week, is currently 1-1 on the season, after finishing 9-4 in 2014, including a fourth-consecutive win in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, with a 16-3 victory over Nevada.

Offensively, the Cajuns are averaging 38.5 points-per-game, along with 513.0 total yards, 313.5 rushing yards, and 209.5 passing yards, while allowing 28.5 points, 402 total yards, 206 rushing yards, and 196 passing yards.

Louisiana is led by junior running back Elijah McGuire, who has compiled 248 yards, along with 5 touchdowns, on 41 carries.

Akron, who defeated Savannah St. last week, 52-9. will also come into the game at 1-2.

Offensively, the Zips are averaging 20.7 points, along with 319 total yards, 157 rushing yards, and 162 passing yards a contest, while allowing 24.7 points, 349.3 total yards, 249 passing yards, and 100.3 rushing yards.

Akron is paced by senior running back Conor Hundley, who has amassed 217 yards, including 2 touchdowns, on 31 carries.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 1-0.
