Cajuns Fall To Lamar, 80-63
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team suffered their fourth-consecutive road loss, and fifth-consecutive loss away from home, after dropping an 80-63 non-conference affair to the Lamar Cardinals, on Saturday night, in Beaumont, Texas.
Josh Brown hit a jumper at the 8:19 mark of the first half to give Louisiana their biggest lead of the game, 21-15.
Lamar, however, was able to outscore UL 23-10 over the final eight minutes of the half, to take a 38-34 halftime lead.
The Cajuns were still in striking distance, down 49-44, at the 13:00 mark, when Lamar went on a 15-2 run over the next 5:15 to take a 64-46 lead.
That proved to be a deficit that Louisiana couldn't recover from, as the Cardinals were able to coast to the 17-point win.
The Cardinals were able to out-shoot the Cajuns from the field, 47%-40% , and out-rebounded them by a 38-26 count.
Lamar was led by the game-high 25 points of Mike James.
UL was paced in a losing cause by guard Ramone Andrews, who had 16 points, with Brown adding 13 points and nine rebounds.
With the win, Lamar improved to 5-3 on the season, while Louisiana dropped to 4-6.
The Cajuns return to action on Monday, December 12, when they host Dillard.
